Passenger car – Anti-Lock Brake Control Module

Recall published
Product title
Passenger car – Anti-Lock Brake Control Module
Product description
The recall concerns FORD MAVERICK vehicles produced from 1 May 2003 to 23 January 2004 (produced in Ohio) and from 22 October 1999 to 19 December 2003 (produced in Kansas City).
The product poses a serious risk of fire since engineering investigations have identified a small percentage of Maverick vehicles that may have missing or dislodged wire seals in the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module connector. This condition could allow contamination to enter the module connector, creating a potential risk for an electrical short. An electrical short might cause an ABS malfunction that would illuminate the ABS warning light, and in extreme cases, the module may overheat resulting in a burning odour, smoke and/or fire.
