- There are four different battery pack designs, each of which is compatible with a subset of the listed notebook computers. The date code is embedded in a code printed on an adhesive label affixed to the inner surface of the battery pack. They are black and rectangular in appearance with safety markings and labelling.
- The products pose a risk of fire because there is the possibility that the batteries can overheat. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive (LVD).

The notebook computers themselves are not subject to the recall action.
All affected packs will have a CT coding that includes the following sequences where ^ can be any letter A-Z or number 0-9: 62940^^AXV ^^^^ 65000^^B5V^^^^ 65033^^B7U^^^^
67059^^V8V^^^^ Not all packs that include one of these sequences is subject to the recall. Verification of the complete code by HP is required.
